3rd Shocktoberfest

An old world celebration of the fall bounty, Shocktoberfest offers genuine German Dancers and Music provided by the Hirshjagger German/Hungarian Mountain Dancers, German music, foods and of course plenty of Beer...Come and celebrate the fall at the Historic 17th Street Farmers’ Market-As always, lederhosen are required.

Art in the Bottom
Sunday, October 16th from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Art in the Bottom-Local artist will feature their one of a kind and limited edition of art on Sunday, October 16th. If you are looking for a great source for local art that is well-within post peoples budgets this one is for you! Live music, entertainment and lots of fun for all ages.

12th Annual Brunswick Stew Festival
Saturday, November 5th from 11:00am to 4:00pm

As a cornerstone of our market events in 2011 it is one of the largest of its kind in the nation merging food, music and drink with fantastic fall weather. The event was featured in Pat Willard 2007 best selling book, AmericaEats! and is listed as an example of one of the best Americana-style festivals merging traditional recipes and music to mainstream Americans. The stew samples are available for sale in 4oz cups from 11:00am to 1:00pm. At 1:00pm, the stew is sold in bowls and quarts until it is gone. Don’t snooze or you will loose! Once its gone, its gone!

Shockoe Sippage Crafted Beer Celebration
Sunday, November 6th from 11am to 5pm

Come and sample crafted beers from Virginia-based microbreweries with local color and flair. We will feature on a very limited basis some of the most unique beers to sample and savor. Come for an hour or come for the day. We will have plenty of holiday crafts, food and entertainment for sale or eat at one of your favorite Shockoe Bottom Restaurants. Admission and parking is free or better yet, use the services of 2BNB bus service, servicing the Bottom and Back free since 2009.

Grand Illuminations Celebration
Friday, December 2nd from 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive by fire truck escort and carefully listened to each child’s holiday wish. Come see Santa and have your picture taken for free which you will no longer find at the shopping malls. If you ask our local shops and restaurants what was single busiest day of the holiday and they will tell you the Grand Illumination. We feature plenty of reasonably priced holiday gifts, most hand made by local crafters.
