| Abstract: Contains features representing Street Maintenance Areas, Street Sweeping Areas, and Snow Removal Routes. | |||
| Purpose: The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the surface condition of streets, sidewalks, and alleys throughout the City. The dataset contains feature classes that define/describe the extent and boundaries of the various types of maintenance areas for use in GIS mapping and geospatial analysis. While the Street Maintenance areas and Snow Removal routes are intended to communicate areas/locations of operational responsibilities and work coordination, the Street Sweeping areas also support the relating of properties (hence addresses) to the correlating Street Sweeping Schedule for use in the City's data warehousing and central address systems; Street Maintenance and Snow Removal do not contain schedules. Street Maintenance Areas are used in Public Works' GIS-based Asset Management System (AMS). Seeing these areas in the AMS is particularly helpful for Roadway Maintenance staff to review requests for service; the geographic layer spatially indicates to staff to whom requests should be assigned for inspections. | |||
