| Abstract: Represents 2000 Census Blocks. It is the geographical unit for which the bureau accounts for every person by age and race. | |||
| Purpose: Block level data from the 2000 Census can be mapped/analyzed and compared to subsequent Census years' data in order to determine trends and patterns of change in the City of Richmond's population. 2000 Block level data pertaining to population counts by race and age were used for the 2001 redistricting effort. This GIS layer is used to relate properties (hence addresses) to the correlating block for use in the City's data warehousing and central address systems. | |||
| Supplemental Information: A Census Block is the smallest geographic unit used by the United States Census Bureau for tabulation of 100-percent data (data collected from all houses, rather than a sample of houses).
