| Abstract: Represents designated land uses based on the 2008 City of Richmond adopted Master Plan. | |||
| Purpose: Richmond's Master Plan land use recommendations are intended to provide guidance to future development of land to ensure that these developments are consistent with the choices and preferences that the citizens of the City have identified as critical. Planning staff uses these recommendations as important criteria in evaluating proposed rezonings, special use permits, site plans, and other land use cases. This GIS layer is used to relate properties (hence addresses) to the correlating recommended land use for use in the City's data warehousing and central address systems. | |||
| Supplemental Information: The 2008 Master Plan was adopted 10/13/2008 with the update to the Downtown Master Plan. Areas outside of the Downtown Plan were developed before GIS implementation in the City of Richmond. Accordingly, the original scale and use of Corel Draw software to develop the original version of the Master Plan land use, was not detailed to a parcel-level. The City Charter assigns responsibility for adoption of the Master Plan to the City Planning Commission (although it does not become effective until the action of the Commission is approved by City Council ordinance or resolution).
