| Abstract: Represents Refuse Collection Areas. | |||
| Purpose: To define/describe the extent and boundaries of the Bulk Collection Areas for use in GIS mapping and geospatial analysis. This GIS layer is used to relate properties (hence addresses) to the correlating Refuse Collection RouteID for use in the City's data warehousing and central address systems. | |||
| Supplemental Information: Residential trash is collected once per week in the City of Richmond. This GIS layer has attributes for the RouteID, Schedule (representing pick-up day of the week), Team, and Truck. Refuse Collection Areas were updated through a more analytical process of routing analysis (2008-09). Public Works' GIS Team utilized ArcGIS' Network Analyst to evaluate and determine 'equitable' collection areas with drive times/routes, based upon the Carriageways feature class, census data, and the estimated number of determined stops.
