| Abstract: Represents Street Maintenance Areas. | |||
| Purpose: The Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining the surface condition of streets, sidewalks, and alleys throughout the City. This feature class defines/describes the extent and boundaries of the Street Maintenance Areas, which are use to geographically communicate operational responsibilities and work coordination, and for general use in GIS mapping and geospatial analysis. This feature class is used in Public Works' GIS-based Asset Management System (AMS). Seeing these areas in the AMS is particularly helpful for Roadway Maintenance staff to review requests for service; the geographic layer spatially indicates to staff to whom requests should be assigned for inspections. | |||
