Description
Abstract: Represents Elevation Points, as it was interpreted from the 1999 digital elevation model that was used to rectify the digital orthophotography during the City's initial GIS base mapping project.
Purpose: The creation of the elevation points was executed to capture the existing ground conditions at a specific point in time for the purpose of GIS mapping and analysis. Elevation information is used for plannimetric mapping and for creating TINs and RASTERs, which support 3D mapping and ground/slope visualization. TINs and RASTERs of elevation data support spatial analyses related to slopes, viewsheds, water runoff, and other map algebra-based applications.
Supplemental Information: Elevation Points 1999: were considered part of the City's "Planimetric" Base Mapping. Planimetric basemapping was originally interpreted (1999-2000) by Michael Baker Corporation, from the orthophotography and digital elevation model, as part of the first phase of GIS implementation.
