Description
Abstract: Represents Drainage related Capital Improvement Projects.
Purpose: To be used for planning, tracking, and locating Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) in GIS. Tracking CIPs in GIS supports the use of a GIS-based Asset Management System (AMS), in that AMS users can readily compare CIP locations to the spatial distribution of requests for service related to the installation, repair, or modification of certain asset types. For example, complaints of standing water may be located where a CIP is already established for aleviating the flooding problems of the area; the service request can be commented upon to provide the relevant information from the CIP information, and maintenance work should not be scheduled.
Supplemental Information: Drainage Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) can exist for projects such as: Basin Repair, Channel Cleanout, Culvert Repair, Pipe Repair, Pipe Installation, etc... CIPs are created in response to solving problems with old or proposed infrastructure. The resolution of the project is beyond the capabilities of general maintenance operations because the engineering difficulties are too great and/or the cost is too expensive; these problems can not be resolved via standard maintenance operations. Many times CIPs will have budgeted funds, while the majority of others are seeking funding. cip_Drainage tracks useful information such as the Project Manager's Name, Phone Number, Project Number, Project Name, Contractor, Descriptive Location, Projected Start and Completion Dates, Cost, etc...
