Description
Abstract: Represents areas designated as Community Unit Plans (CUPs).
Purpose: The City Charter specifically authorizes the use of this process for the development of sites containing 10 or more acres in a way that does not comply with underlying zoning. Typically, it is used for large scale, mixed-use developments, Stony Point being a good example. The Planning Commission and City Council approve a preliminary general plan with a set of development regulations. As the development progresses, usually in phases, the Planning Commission must approve final detailed plans. The final plans must be consistent with the approved preliminary plans. CUPs are also used for GIS mapping and analysis.
Supplemental Information: Changes are made to the CUP feature class when an ordinance is adopted by City Council. Zoning Web Site: http://www.richmondgov.com/planninganddevelopmentreview/ZoningDivision.aspx Zoning Parcel Mapper: http://map.richmondgov.com/zoning/
