| Abstract: Represents the main channel of the James River. | |||
| Purpose: This feature class is to be used for defining the boundary of areas that intend to use the James River as the dividing line in the construction of other thematic areas in the City's GIS, which adhere to defined data quality standards. The purpose of these standards is to ensure that thematic areas (layers) in the City of Richmond's GIS are defined by consistently applied criteria that result in topologically coincident geospatial information. Feature boundaries should not unnecessarily crisscross, overlap, or create unintended gaps/slivers. It is also important for visual display and overlay of separate feature class layers to share commonly used/prioritized base features for their boundary lines; keeping boundary line definitions between layers clean and topologically integrated. | |||
