Description
Abstract: Represents areas of the City which are a) combined sewer/stormwater systems, b) separated and previously mapped stormwater systems, or c) separated stormwater system areas that needed to be GPS field mapped.
Purpose: Used to map/show the different areas of the City as they pertain to a) combined sewer/stormwater systems, b) separated and previously mapped stormwater systems, and c) separated and needed to be field mapped systems.
Supplemental Information: Rainfall in the City of Richmond drains via a) combined sewer/stormwater systems, b) separated stormwater pipes, culverts (north-side is largely curb & gutter, inlets, and pipes), or c) separated stormwater ditches/channels, pipes, culverts which required field inventorying (the south-side of the City required GPS field mapping of a significant amount of open channels/roadside ditches that had never been mapped). For much of the history of the development of the Stormwater system, the Department of Public Works (DPW) was responsible for the separated stormwater system, while the Department of Public Utilities is responsible for the combined sewer/stormwater system. This feature class was used to 'tell-the-story' of where areas of responsibility were and were stormwater mapping existed or was missing. Polygons are subtyped according to whether the areas are Combined or Separated. The attribute field called "Source" identifies if a 'separated' area has mapping defined by: Baseline Maps, or Field Inventories.
