| Abstract: Represents common places as point features in and around the City of Richmond. | |||
| Purpose: Enables modeling of common named places as points. The Points of Interest are designed both for cartographic display of common places and they are related to GIS address points, originating from Central Address, which enables the City to associate addresses to common names used in the Landmarks GIS model. | |||
| Supplemental Information: Points of Interest features generally emphasize the social or economic role of a landmark. All Area of Interest and Building features should have a corresponding Point of Interest feature, usually with the same name. However, Points of Interest features may exist without related Area of Interest or Building features. Multiple overlapping Point of Interest features are permitted wherever a single real-world feature provides multiple functions. Landmarks uses a standard land use classification scheme and other hybrid approaches based upon the Americal Planning Association standards: http://myapa.planning.org/lbcs/ | |||
