Building relationships, bridging gaps, and increasing trust.

Enhancing community trust and developing partnerships benefits the community, and Richmond Police will be working in the Southwood neighborhood in an effort to strengthen those connections. Community members are our partners in crime prevention and a vital part of the Richmond Police Department’s community policing strategy. We’re looking for your help in leading this initiative.

Beginning April 20, 2016, the Richmond Police Department will host several community meetings to introduce this effort to residents and business owners. We want to engage the Southwood community to learn about its concerns and expectations as well as familiarize residents with the Department’s goals as we strive to build upon existing relationships and establish new ones.

COMMUNITY CONCERNS

Southwood residents expressed several concerns and quality of life issues during recent community meetings, and the Richmond Police Department is actively working with the neighborhood and surrounding businesses to address the following:

  • Community and Park Safety
  • Drinking in Public
  • Robberies

The Richmond Police Department is also partnering with citizens and businesses to reduce criminal activity within Southwood through increased police visibility and crime prevention efforts, including Neighborhood Watch.
