DPU Continuing to Provide Essential Services

The City is open under its Phase 3 operating plan. Following CDC-recommended guidelines, DPU continues to focus on the health and protection of our customers as well as that of our technicians. DPU’s services have expanded beyond emergencies, new consumer connections and restoration of water and gas services. We are providing additional support for billing inquiries and other account concerns. However, the moratorium on service disconnections for non-payment will continue. Automatic Utility Payment Plan

DPU can automatically deduct the amount of your monthly bill from your checking or savings account on the date the bill is due. Call (804)646-4646 to request an application, then return the completed application with a voided check. DPU will set up the service with your bank at no charge to you.

DPU E-Bill

Receive an email reminder when your bill is due, then pay your bill online. You will need your DPU billing account and your checking account numbers, an email address, and your Social Security number to enroll for DPU e-bill. This link takes you to the MyCheckFree.com website where you can set up an account and pay bills online.

Online Bill Pay with E-Z PAY

DPU now accepts E-Z Pay. It’s the easy way to pay your utility bill. Western Union Speedpay is no longer accepted.

  • All that is needed is the account number and zip code of the billing address.
  • E-Z PAY accepts : Debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Checking, Savings, and Money Market accounts. Click here for E-Z PAY.
  • Lower fee! A $2.25 convenience charge will be assessed when making a payment on the internet using E-Z PAY.
  • Payments cannot exceed $500 per transaction.

Pay in Person

Utility payments may be made in person at the following location:

  • Finance Office, City Hall
    Room 102
    900 E. Broad St.
    Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Payments may also be made via City Hall Dropbox: Located on the 10th Street side. Please do not deposit cash. Checks and money orders only.

Pay By Phone

The Call Center can accept credit card payments by telephone at (804)646-4646 during their hours of operation. (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
