The next election in the City of Richmond may be a primary election on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Offices which might be on the ballot for this primary are Virginia State Senate, Virginia House of Delegates and Circuit Court Clerk. The purpose of this election would be to nominate candidates for offices that will be on the ballot in November. A primary election will not be held unless one or more political party calls for a primary and more than one candidate files for a particular office for which a primary is called. Photo ID is now required to vote at your polling place or in person absentee voting. Acceptable forms of photo ID include: valid Virginia Driver's license; DMV issued photo ID; valid United States passport; valid employee photo ID; other government issued photo ID; and, valid Virginia college or university student photo ID. If you do not have an acceptable form of photo ID, you may get a free one for voting purposes at any local Virginia voter registration office. More information is available at
