FAMIS is Virginia's children's health insurance program. Children, under age 19, living in families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid may still qualify for FAMIS. Pregnant women who are not eligible for Medicaid or uninsured may quality for FAMIS MOMS to provide comprehensive health care benefits during pregnancy and for the newborn. Once enrolling in FAMIS, most families will receive care through a Managed Care Organization (MCO). Children enrolled in FAMIS may also enroll in the Smiles for Children dental program.
