The Department of Social Services Child and Family Division conducts Team Decision Making Meetings which are strength-based meetings involving the child, family, their support systems, agency staff and community partners during critical placement decisions.

These informal meetings are a collaborative effort led by a trained facilitator who guides the meeting and insures that all participants have a voice in the meeting. These meetings are held when a child's initial removal from his/her family is being considered, the possibility of a change in a child's placement, and/or recommendations are made for a permanent plan such as reunification, adoption, etc. These meetings may be held in the community or at the local DSS agency.

For more information about Team Decision Making Meetings, please call (804)646-6951.
