The Department of Public Utilities' 1,700 miles of gas distribution mains are supplied by three of the largest interstate pipeline systems in the country - Columbia Gas Transmission, Transcontinental Pipeline and, most recently, Consolidated Natural Gas System via the new Virginia Natural Gas intrastate gas pipeline. Buying from a mix of sources helps DPU provide customers with reliable supplies at the best possible cost.
