Why is the Church Hill area being considered for a rezoning?

The existing zoning districts are inconsistent with the vision set forth in the Citywide Master Plan. The goal of this study is to remedy this incompatibility and put the tools in place to facilitate a vibrant redevelopment of the neighborhoods.

Planning and Preservation staff is recommending a mixture of zoning districts that will respect the historic and urban development pattern of the neighborhood. These new zoning districts will require a Master Plan amendment. A parking exempt overlay would also be applied to each commercial district.

What is proposed for the Church Hill area?

When is the next public meeting?

The much anticipated public hearing portion of the Church Hill rezoning process will begin in April and include several opportunities for residents and other interested parties to make their voices heard. The Planning Commission will review an amendment to the Master Plan land use recommendations applicable to this portion of the East End planning district at their April 19, 2010 meeting.

We anticipate the introduction of the remaining papers in late April, followed by public hearings in May. Get further updates on the DPDR blog. All papers will be available online for viewing when they are introduced.
