Civilian of the Month

Our Civilian of the Month for January – Joy Parker

Over the past couple of months, Administrative Program Assistant Joy Parker in the Chief’s Office had the difficult task of wearing several hats and responding to requests from several Command Staff members while a co-worker was out with an injury.

Joy usually handles various duties for Operations Area 1 and 2, Support Services and the Office of Professional Responsibility – from purchase requests for Majors John Keohane, Eric English and Steve Drew to preparing the use of force packets for the Use of Force Review Boards, all documents for Monday’s Staff Meeting, leave updates and scheduling meetings.

Joy took on the challenge of supporting another Command Staff member while her co-worker was out, adding former Assistant Chief Dave McCoy to her list. She handled various requests and tasks as well as several requests for information that were received by the assistant chief over the last month, which added to a plate that already was overflowing.

But Joy was up for the challenge and managed everything that came across her desk. She had to handle issues for four different Command Staff members who all had different tasks for her. She was very diligent in completing assignments and always found the answers if she did not know.

Joy wore the many different hats she was handed well, making her the honoree for the “A Step Above” Award and the Department’s Civilian of the Month for January.
