September 2009 Civilian of the Month

An incredible job well done by Carol Martin has earned her the September "A Step Above" award for successfully organizing and executing the Shop with a Cop program.

Ms. Martin's tasks ranged from working with the organizers from the YMCA and precinct officers to identify children in the community to participate, ordering T-shirts and backpacks to, collecting and correlating the children's information from pick-up locations to drop-off locations.

Though this was Ms. Martin's first time taking on such an enormous task, and she may have come close to pulling out her hair, she did a fantastic job. She helped make more than 90 city children happier and better prepared for school as well as improving their impressions of and experiences with police.

And she did this all while maintaining her normal workload!
