Communications Officer of the Month

Our Communications Officer of the Month for March – Mildred Williams.

Communications Officer Mildred Williams’ performance and attention to detail while assigned to the telephones last month was – in a word – outstanding.

Just one example is when she took a call on March 18 from a frantic mother in Chesterfield trying to find her daughter who was involved in a car accident in a friend’s car — somewhere in Richmond. Williams’ 24 years of savvy communications training and knowledge allowed her to question the mother about the possible whereabouts of her daughter without causing further panic and keeping the caller calm.

Williams placed the mother on hold and searched the database for recent accidents, finding one at West Cary and Stafford in which two persons were possibly injured. Williams had the police radio operator verify with the officer working the accident the identity of the young lady involved as the woman’s daughter.

The constant professional, Williams thanked the mother for her patience on hold and placed her at ease by affirming that her daughter was OK and that she did not need to respond to the scene of the accident.

A couple of days later, the mother called DEC to personally thank Williams for the outstanding and helpful service she provided in locating her daughter.

Great job, Mildred!
