Sergeant of the Month - Click to enlarge

We have to start out by saying that this sergeant’s nomination came from a unique source: It was written by an officer, which is the first time to our knowledge that this has happened. That shows how much of an impact his actions had.

Officers recently responded to a shooting call on East Roanoke Street, and after hearing a gunshot inside the home, Sergeant Killingsworth didn’t hesitate, acting with bravery and urgency as the first man through the door with his officers. The scene was one of the most disturbing officers have seen, finding four deceased individuals, including a 2-year-old child.

This is how the officer described Sergeant Killingsworth: He maintained a calm yet firm and decisive demeanor throughout the entire ordeal, and his strong leadership undoubtedly contributed to the professional and thorough nature with which the incident was handled.

Sergeant Killingsworth has been at Second Precinct for almost a year and in that time he has earned the respect and admiration of all of his colleagues, including those who work above and below him.

His actions day in and day out continue to put him a step above what is expected for someone in his position and for this he deserves recognition.

We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves. Congratulations to our Sergeant of the Month: Second Precinct Sergeant James Killingsworth!
