The Richmond Police Department knows the value of crisp images from surveillance cameras. Detectives use the images to identify suspects and make arrests.

As we enter the new year the Department asks that you perform routine maintenance on your surveillance gear:

  • Clean the lenses with lens wipes. Lens wipes are pre-moistened cloth that do not deposit fibers on the lenses.
  • Check the cables and power cords.
  • If the system uses tapes for recording – consider replacing tape stock.
  • Good lighting greatly enhances still and video images. Consider upgrading lighting sources in the area of the cameras.
Maintain your surveillance equipment.
